Shalakany is pleased to announce that it has successfully represented its client, a leading, multinational jewelry company, before the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (‘GAFI’) and before the Egyptian Judiciary. The client’s dispute with the counterparty arose from an unincorporated joint venture in Egypt. Shalakany’s consecutive wins before GAFI’s Inspection and Petitions’ Committees respectively, as well as the considerable pressure Shalakany added before courts, ultimately led to a positive, global settlement of the underlying disputes. This represents one of numerous occasions where Shalakany provides its legal services to its clients through hybrid teams comprising of the necessary expertise from both the corporate and disputes’ fronts.
Mr. Aly El Shalakany, Senior Partner, said: “We are pleased that we were able to act as trusted counsel to the client, to strategize and to execute on a plan that involved various yet complimenting approaches to achieving a successful result.”
Mr. Muhammad Ussama, Partner, said: “We are happy to have secured this positive, satisfactory conclusion for the client. This dispute was interesting as it involved elements of civil, commercial & corporate law, and administrative law and, thus, required high-level legal input that brings all those elements together.”
