                              A practicing lawyer in Egypt, Mariam joined SHALAKANY in 2007. Mariam holds an LLM from Indiana University, and is a member of the Firm\u2019s Banking and Capital Markets and Projects groups, respectively. Mariam has worked on a number of high profile projects and transactions, and has worked alongside the Firm\u2019s groups on the PPP and Energy projects. Mariam specializes in Banking, Finance and Projects.<\/p>\n

                              Mariam Fahmy obtained an LL.B from Cairo University in 2007 and an LL.M. from Indiana University in August 2010. Mariam joined Shalakany\u2019s Corporate Department in 2007 and she has been elected to the partnership in December 2017.<\/p>\n

                              Mariam is a member of Shalakany\u2019s Project Development and Finance, Banking and Finance and Capital Markets Departments. She handled several PPP projects, acting for both the procuring entity and the bidders. Further, Mariam acted for a number of developers on wind and solar projects under Egypt\u2019s feed in tariff regime. In addition, Mariam is currently acting for JBIC, NEXI and other commercial banks on the financing of the 250 MW BOO wind farm project in the Gulf of Suez, which achieved financial close in December 2017. She is also currently acting on behalf of a consortium of IFIs as lenders\u2019 local counsel in relation to two new BOO wind farm power projects with a combined capacity of 500 MW. She acted for SACE and the commercial lenders in relation to a USD 1.2 billion financing of the modernization and expansion of MIDOR\u2019s refinery. Mariam also acted for Rusatom as the EPC contractor for Egypt\u2019s first nuclear power plant. Mariam acted for EBRD on the financing of two separate Egyptian manufacturing projects each with a value of USD 25 million in addition to a financing to a major cement producing company for a value of USD 50 million, in addition to representing EBRD in several other financings. She acted on behalf of the borrowers, the Egyptian Bahraini Gas Derivatives Company, in a USD 66.5 million loan transaction. She also acted for the lenders in relation to a USD 600 million term loan facility to the National Bank of Egypt.<\/p>\n

                              Furthermore, Mariam provides legal advice on employee issues including hiring, firing, discipline, leave and attendance, employment agreements, severance agreements, misconduct, internal investigations and reductions in force.
